The Internet of things: from networked objects to ubiquitous computing

Throughout the article, it specifically mention the term "Blogjects".
It sounds complicated but it is not. Basically, Blogjects is the word which come from the combination of "blog" and "objects". Blog is a website which enable the people to express and share various incident or commenting on a specific topic. Simply, blogjects mean the "objects" have represent the human blogging.

It is interesting that the act of blogjects and human bloggers could be the same, likewise they can create posts or any links. In other words, they have the same act but different approaches. As Julian Bleecker mentioned " The most peculiar characteristic of Blogjects is that they participate in the exchange of ideas. Blogjects don't just publish, they circulate conversations."

Based on this statement, perhaps the blogjects is more lively and active than human bloggers, they can exchange ideas same as the human. Sometimes, human might not willing to exchange idea or pay attention to the post and comments. However, there is a high possibility for the blogjects to exchange the ideas and circulate conversations. Look at the video below, it discuss about the Internet of Things and it is really interesting.

Here are the 3 keys characteristics which able to differenciate the blogjects from the internet objects in the social web:
  1. It is able to do tracking and tracing.
  2. Able to record and experience the histories which they encountered.
  3. Blogjects is interactive within a group because it enables them to share information.
Therefore, from these 3 characteristic, we can see that they are empirical which is like a camera that able to record the information. In other words, it is able to log and remember their act; meanwhile it is able to share their information with the others.

To conclude, personally I think human blogging would be still better than blogjects. It is because blogjects would be still not as vivid as human and also the intepretation too. What do you think? Do you think blogjects is really that good? Indeed, with the high technology nowadays, there might be still a lot of "things" could be replace the bloggers in the future.

  1. Hi Sook Mun! I think blogject is good but sometimes, things are fine as how it supposed to be. It'll be great to remain how it was last time.

Blogject is one of the advanced technology where it plays an active role instead of passive right now. Earlier, I watch a video about blogject, whereby every object is up to communicate. The master tells the house that he is coming back soon and the house will prepare everything for him so as soon as he comes back, everything is set in position for him to bath/eat/watch TV or whatnot.

But in fact, would doing it manually would get more fun? In the video itself, everything is set for him already. What he need to do is just to walk to the microwave, get the food out and eat it. It's true that a person will get tired when they're back home, but they missed all the fun parts. Times when they cook and accidentally put the ingredients in the wrong time, mop or sweep the floor and feel the satisfactions and et cetera

Hence, I still think that even after blogject is out in this world, sometimes, things might be better if it remains the original way. Do it manually! Check out the video when you're free !Here you go for the link!

  2. Hi, for my opinion it is really an advance action that non-living things are slowly being alive and helps us out but people would still have something that is more than that. The way to express would give a lot of differenciation on a particular matter. For example, you did not know how cold is the place and you send a robot there to check out the temperature and you get the data back. However, it does not show expression and how would you know that the temperature shown for you is belongs to cold?or warm.there is no right or wrong in between but there might still have some possible flaw that makes it imperfect.

  3. I personally think blogjects are good!
They are more interactive than human blogging. Firstly, blogjects can create an issue and answer to an issue as well. We do not need to search all over the Internet for just getting an answer for an issue. With blogjects, people can get issues and answers at the same place.

Also, with the advancement of technology. Blogjects will become a good helper in our life. In the future, blogjects might be the home alarm to kick out the robber from house. Interesting right? Let's look forward on this to happen. :)

  4. For me personally, I don't think blogjects is good because it invading our privacy. It is scary to think that the non living things is slowly become alive. But then blogjects really can help alot with our daily life. It can help us to trace a persons location, helps us to record what what we had doneand furthermore if it is not a good thing, it will not be invented and will not be used by people, so , I think it had its good sides =)
