Who is this person on the left?
He is Julian Assange, the founders of Wikileaks.
His bravery has put his lives in risk, why? Because he reveals or invades the TRUTH behind some certain top secrets and humilated some of the governments in America.
Personally, I think "Wikileak" has given me another way to interpret it which is the "humanitarian". Simply, there is a lot of matter that we do not know is better than knowing it. The truth has been always the cruelest, like the case collateral murder.

It has 3 videos inside this link, and one of the videos is about the civilians are being killed. Basically Wikileak which have these videos are also having the information supports from military whistleblowers. Wikileak has to ensure the information which leaked is must to get the attention from the people around the world. In other words, all of us are deserved to know. According to this link, it has also mentioned that there are quite a big number of journalist being killed in Iraq because the journalists' camera have been wrongly seen as weapon which turned them into tragedy.
In addition, Philip Shennon, he is "a former investigate reporter for The New York Times" (PBS, 2010). Throughout the interview between Philip Shenon and Judy Woodruff, he has discussed quite a lot of information about the connection between Julian Assange and Wikileak. Indeed, I think Philip Shenon has said out a point which is really good which is "And, so, when he said I -- we -- we played earlier a quote from him where he said it's -- he said, these documents will show the true nature of this war. Then the public can take steps to address the problems.So, it sounds as if he has an agenda." (PBS, 2010).

To conclude, I am really salute on how Julian Assange being honest to himself and also to the public. Because I think the reason that he created Wikileak is to let the public to know the truth instead of pretending like don't know. Indeed, he might hope to get the public to think of ways to overcome the problem or anyhow like how Philip Shenon mentioned in the interview.
As a matter of fact, if we think in positive ways, no doubt we can know the truth. In contrast, it would just bring out the arguments between government and the society. So I think is kind of paradoxical to say Wikileak is really good to public. It is just depend on how we view on it.

Hi Sook Mun! Seriously, I salute the honesty of Assange as well. He does not fear of the government and reveal the truth to the public. Actually I think Wikileaks helps public alot to understand more of the behind story of the government.

Besides, Assange is clever enough to get rid of all the troubles as well! With the huge amount of servers and domain, dont you think he is cool? Haha! Nice post! =)

ReplyDeleteAfter had watched the video, it is sad to realize that humanity today has become how it is like in the video. It seems like people now days are killing others as a type of entertainment.
When a certain group of people, in this case, the military personnel, when they know they have the power to do almost anything and there's a very minor chance of them getting caught under the law for what they do, therefore they just simply abuse of what they have and start doing inhuman things.
According to the United Stated military, killing of innocents is an "unavoidable" damage. In another word, the military can rarely be in the wrong of their actions and decisions of killing others in a combat.

I always respect journalist who take thier own risk, not because of the salary, but to explore information, we suppose to know.
Like what I mentioned in my post, I don't like politic! The main reason is they are selfish and childish. I did not mean all of them. Like I also mentioned, if you want to know much about it, experience it yourself. How many of them really care about thier citizen?
Therefore, I respect a journalist more than a politican.

ReplyDeletewell, after reading your writeup, i found that people these days are killing and abusing each other.. and i am wondering where is the humanity afterall..? and with this wikileaks, it can tell the world what had gone to...and people would know the truth on what happening all in wikileaks...as people prefer reading hot fresh wikileak news rather than what newspaper post...could newspaper die? since information all are filtered.

ReplyDeleteI do impress with Assange's bravery as well. Without his bravery, we will not know so much truth of a news.
Also, I agree with this powerful sentence. "All of us are deserved to know." Everyone has the rights to know and WikiLeaks has provides this chance to everyone to read and understand the truth we want to know.
However, some people might think that Assange is revealing government's secret. They may think this is an unethical way of revealing secret because they do not actually get permission from government before they publish this out to the public.
Still, these depends on everyone's point of view. I personally think that WikiLeaks is good enough to give people the rights to know the truth of an issue.
it is true that we can't said that WikiLeaks is totally good for the society but it is depend on how we view on it. I'm agree with you that "The truth has been always the cruelest", after the truth had been uncover, we can know the cruel reality in a war. Its like everyone that are in the enemy land are the enemy and even the innocents one and the young and old one which are defendless. This is the cruel reality of the war, so after we know about it, we should stand against war and ask for peace between country and please do not kill the innocents and defendless one.
